Harry has his Hogwarts, Percy goes to Camp Half-Blood. There's the red team and the blue team, and they go around the forest playing capture-the-flag with real battlegear. Sounds a lot like Gryffindors and Slytherins in a game of Quidditch. Trusty sidekick? Check. Love interest? Check. Sudden proficiency in using hidden skills? Check.
Quick summary. The almighty Zeus loses his uber-weapon the lighting bolt, and he blames Poseidon and his son Perseus (a.k.a Percy). If he does not get it back chop-chop, he's gonna declare war, and it's "end of the world as we know it." Yeah, right.
So Percy with his satyr sidekick Grover (Brandon T. Jackson) and love interest Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario) goes around the country looking for teleporting pearls left behind by Persephone (Rosario Dawson). During their quest, they behead Medusa (Uma Thurman), slay the Hydra, and outsmart the Lotus-Eaters. But wait, there's more. They bribe the ferryman Charon to take them to the Underworld (underneath Beverly Hills), where they rescued Percy's Mom from the clutches of Hades, and emerged up top with the missing lightning bolt.
Turns out that it was Luke (Hades' son), who stole the lightning bolt because he was feeling a little neglected, and wanted a little attention. After an epic battle, Percy defeats Luke and goes to Olympus and stops the gods from waging civil war. All in a day's work.
