Movie 2011.07.01 - X-Men: First Class
Nice, interesting prequel for those who are unfamiliar with the X-Men universe. In this movie, we see how Erik Lehnsherr went from Nazi war prisoner to becoming Magneto. On the other side of the world, young Charles Xavier catches young Raven stealing food from the fridge, and they became close friends. Fast forward to the '60s, in the middle of the Cuban crisis. Shaw and his gang of mutants are playing the Americans against the Russians in a bid to start a nuclear war in order to start a new world order. Meanwhile, Lehnsherr and Xavier negotiates a deal to use CIA resources and recruit other mutants to their cause. This happened and that happened. In the finale, Shaw and his goons try to force the Americans' hand by driving a Soviet ship towards the American line. Xavier negates this by mindcontrolling another Soviet ship to blow the rogue ship out of the water. Meanwhile, Magneto locates Shaw's submarine with the help of Banshee, and lifts it out of the water. Both Soviets and Americans are awed at this show of mutant power that they simultaneously decide to annihilate the mutants with their missiles. And this is when Magneto's worst fears are confirmed. He turns against the humans (and Professor X), and sends the missiles back to the ships. Huge fight ensues between the two guys, with Professor X getting hit with a bullet in his spine. Crisis averted. Even though Magneto regrets injuring Professor X, he does not forgive the humans.
