Quite a simplistic plot, but has a nice moral lesson.By day, delusional Arthur Poppington (Woody Harrelson) works as a traffic guide on construction sites. By night, he becomes superhero Defendor. He goes around town in his truck, looking for bad guys. Since he doesn't really have super powers, he gets beaten up pretty badly most of the time.
Basically, he's after Captain Industry, whom he believes caused the death of her mother. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, he was fooled by a street prostitute (Kat Dennings) into believing that the local crime lord is Captain Industry. He takes on the criminals and the corrupt cops, and ends up getting fatally shot. But not before the good cops arrests all the bad guys. So he didn't die in vain after all.
