Wednesday night dinner with GF at Cafe d'Or. This is my first time to try Lebanese cuisine, so I have no idea what to order. When in doubt, order the sampler platter, which we did.
Back at home, I spent the night watching Hot Fuzz. It stars the comedy tandem of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost of Shawn of the Dead fame. This time, Simon Pegg plays Nicholas Angel, a standout cop in London's Metropolitan Police Service. He was so good, he was making his colleagues look bad. So, they ship him out the sleepy, crime-free town of Sandford, Gloucestershire, where his talents won't be put to good use. Nick Frost plays Danny Butterman, son of the local police inspector, and Angel's new partner.
Again, Angel is at odds with his new colleagues. A series of deadly accidents occurred in the village. Angel reckons something sinister is going on. His colleagues insist these are simply accidents. Turns out Angel was right. Certain members of the village formed the Neighborhood Watch Alliance (NWA), whose purpose is to ensure that Sandford wins the "Village of the Year" award every year. Anyone who might damage the village's reputation or image is eliminated. Naturally, Angel won't stand for this. With the help of Butterman, they bring down the NWA in a series of over-the-top gun fights across the town.
